Paddington
Paddington is a pretty residential area, which was restored in the 1960's after it had been reduced to slims after the Second World War. Now it is full of Victorian terraces worth a small fortune. Oxford Street runs through Paddington which is the main shopping and eating area, although it continues North towards Double Bay and Edgecliff.
Paddington also hosts a number of art galleries, which are worth a visit as well as a number of cinemas. The Chauvel, which is in the town hall, shows new fringe films and is well worth checking out.
Mudgee
Mudgee is located approximately three and a half hours drive from Sydney. From Sydney you will travel through the magnificent Blue Mountains. You can either take the Great Western Highway or the fabulous Bells Line of Road, traveling through Richmond, Windsor and Lithgow.
Approximately 28 km north of Mudgee is Gulgong, with Rylstone and Kandos approximately 50 km south east.
The Mudgee area has many winery cellar doors to investigate. The local area is renowned for its full-bodied reds, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Chardonnay Grape is arguably the source of the most popular white wine produced in the area.
In addition to fine wines, the Mudgee area is well known for producing excellent wool. Other local produce of a high standard that should be sampled include lamb, venison, olives and even yabbies and silver perch.
