Ballina :-

Ballina has several beaches, with the most popular in the north of the town. Shelly Beach is a patrolled beach, also popular are Lighthouse Beach and the pretty swimming beach at Shaws Bay Lagoon.

You can also travel along the river with various trips available. Ballina also has its own market held at the Circus Ground every 3rd Sunday. There are also a number of other things to do and various types of accommodation around Ballina.

To travel further along the coast head to the Big Prawn, where the Ballina Transit Centre is. Here most of the main bus companies stop. There are several bus services to Lennox Head and Byron Bay.

DESCRIPTION: Continue to join in the Christmas festivities by heading to the Boxing Day Races at Ballina. Catch all the action of horse racing and non-stop entertainment at the Ballina Racecourse.

Ballina Coast Guard Gala Day (EVENT)
DATE / TIME: 01 June 2008 - 01 June 2008 (TBA)
LOCATION: Ballina, Ballina, New South Wales - Australia
DESCRIPTION: Be a part of the human chain from the Coast Guard Tower to Missingham Bridge. Watch the river flotilla proceed down the Richmond River and a mock rescue using the Westpac helicopter. Ride a Harley with Northern Rivers Trike & Bike Tours. Enjoy rides, raffles, face-painting, children's train rides, live music and much more! A barbecue, cold drinks and ice-cream will be available on the day.

DESCRIPTION: The Ballina Market is full of local produce from farm fresh eggs to organic avocado's take a bag home and try for yourself. Buy that special gift or momento to remind you of your trip to Ballina.

Lennox Head
Lennox Head is a popular surfing resort as well as a popular hang-gliding area, situated on the Far North Coast in New South Wales. A great spot for hang gliding is off of Lennox Head itself.

Along the coast you can also go sea kayaking. There are many dolphins around this area and so you may even be lucky enough to see dolphins while you are at sea. If you don't fancy sea kayaking, then there is still a chance to see dolphins just by watching form the coast.

Windsurfing and sailing are also popular activities, on the nearby Lake Ainsworth. Although the water in the lake may look brown and dirty it isn't. The colour is actually caused by the tannin from the Melaleuca trees and is very good for both the skin and hair.

There are fantastic views along the coast from Lennox head, especially from Pat Morton Lookout. It is a great place to take a sunset shot, as well as watch the surfers and hang gliders.

There are several places to stay around Lennox Head and plenty of activities to keep you amused, as well as a market on the Lake Ainsworth foreshore on the 1st and 5th Sundays of each month.
